Just when you thought plans for a new downtown convention hotel were set to go forward, four City-County Council members want
the full council to essentially force the new hotel to employ union workers after it opens.
The City-County Council, which is controlled by Democrats, is preparing to vote on the resolution Monday night.
Council member Joanne Sanders, a Democrat who sponsored the resolution, said it would offer safeguards to keep employers from
blocking union organizers.
A Republican council member, Scott Schneider, counters that the resolution is intended as payback to its big labor constituency.
