The Public Works Committee of the Indianapolis City-County Council approved $8.3 million in emergency road repairs Thursday night after the list of proposed projects was revised to include every council district.

Originally the Department of Public Works proposed $8.5 million in repairs concentrated on the most heavily traveled, worst-condition thoroughfares. Republican City-County Councilor Jack Sandlin was the only "no" in the 6-1 vote. He said he objected to revising the project list for political considerations.

After the vote, the council's Democratic majority issued a press release applauding the change because some Democratic districts had been left off the original list.

Democratic Councilor At-Large Zach Adamson, who complained about the lack of consideration for Democratic districts, said he was disappointed that East Washington Street was not on the revised list.
