Restaurant roundup: Yo Joy, Which Wich, Wolfies & more

  • The Avenue IndianapolisWhich Wich Superior Sandwiches has signed on as a first-floor tenant of The Avenue, the Buckingham Cos. apartment development at 10th Street and Indiana Avenue adjacent to the IUPUI campus (rendering shown). The Dallas-based restaurant chain is taking 2,150 square feet in the newly constructed building. The Indianapolis market has been on the Which Wich target list at least since 2008, when Property Lines first reported the chain's interest in opening 10 new local restaurants.
  • Wolfies Grill, a woodsy themed sports bar chain with locations in Noblesville and Fishers, is planning a new restaurant in Carmel. The restaurant and bar is taking 4,700 square feet in the Merchants Square shopping center, just around the corner from MCL Cafeteria & Bakery.
  • Orange Leaf, the frozen yogurt shop, is opening a new location on the south side. The Oklahoma City-based chain is taking about 2,000 square feet at 6845 Bluff Road, just north of Southport Road. The chain already has locations in Carmel and Fishers and is looking to open several more.
  • Yo Joy, an independent frozen-yogurt shop, is planned for 2,300 square feet in Carmel at 9873 N. Michigan Road, in front of a Home Depot. The self-serve shop is scheduled to open in December.
  • Black Acre Brewing Co. has filed plans to take about 2,400 square feet at 5632 East Washington St. The brewery and tasting room is planned for the same retail building that's home to Jockamo Pizza and Legend Classic Cafe. IBJ first reported on the plans in July.
  • Kobayashi Sushi and Asian Kitchen is taking a former Noble Roman's in Noblesville that most recently was home to Dick's Bodacious Bar-B-Q. The 3,400-square-foot restaurant is on Greenfield Avenue, just west of Ind. 37.
  • Firehouse Subs has filed plans to open a new restaurant in a Walmart-anchored center in Beech Grove. The restaurant is taking 1,800 square feet in the center along Emerson Avenue just south of Interstate 465. The Florida-based chain already has restaurants near 86th Street and Michigan Avenue and in Avon, Noblesville and Plainfield.
  • Za Pizzeria in Broad Ripple is expanding, taking former office space on the second floor of its building at 801 Broad Ripple Ave. The project will add about 1,400 square feet of dining spot to the tiny restaurant. An earlier post is here.
