Broad Ripple hit with robberies
Two armed robberies over the weekend in the Broad Ripple area have police on alert. The first, on Saturday night, happened outside Broad Ripple Brewpub when three men getting out of their car were held up by an armed man. In the second Saturday-night incident, a single man was robbed by an armed suspect. The victims all described the suspect as a black male with a black hat and baggy pants driving a white car.
Crash in Fishers knocks out power
A semi-truck crashed into a utility pole near 116th Street and Allisonville Road in Fishers Monday morning, knocking out power for about 1,700 Duke Energy customers. The driver was trying to park his rig when he hit the pole, causing power lines to fall on the truck’s cabin. He was trapped inside for about an hour. The 4:30 a.m. accident temporarily shut down traffic at the busy intersection.
Worker injured in plant explosion
An explosion at the Rolls-Royce Corp. manufacturing plant on the west side injured one worker Monday morning. The employee suffered burns to his face and chest when a heat-treating furnace exploded. He was taken to Wishard Hospital. Fire crews from Wayne Township were quickly able to extinguish the blaze. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
