A local TV traffic reporter was arrested late Sunday night, accused of driving drunk. Larra Overton, 27, the morning traffic reporter for WRTV-TV Channel 6, told police she was driving along Carrollton Avenue near 60th Street and swerved to miss an oncoming car. Instead, she hit a parked pickup truck, shoving the vehicle into a neighboring yard and onto the front porch. Police say a breathalyzer registered her blood alcohol level at 0.17, more than twice the legal limit. Overton, also a Big Ten Network sideline reporter, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication.

The hit-and-run suspect in last week’s death of Greenfield police officer William Phillips still hasn’t been arrested, possibly because she struck a deal with Henry County legal authorities in return for turning herself in. Sources say the unidentified woman is a prominent person in the community. Phillips was hit and killed while doing bicycle training early Thursday morning. Visitation for the officer is scheduled Monday from 2-8 p.m. at Greenfield Central High School. The funeral is Tuesday at 11 a.m. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.

The state’s largest school district is thinking about a big change to the school calendar. Indianapolis Public Schools is considering a plan that combines a traditional school year with a year-round schedule—a hybrid known as a balanced calendar. Students would go to school for about nine weeks and then have three weeks off. IPS will hold a series of public meetings in October, with the first one at Arlington High School on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
 

A 31-year-old man was killed in a shooting just north of downtown Indianapolis at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday night. Police found victim Jeriwin Irby lying in the front yard of a home near 29th and Udell streets with wounds to the chest. Irby, who did not live at the home, died a short time later at Methodist Hospital. Police are looking for a suspect.
 

Three armed robbery suspects were looking for some quick cash Friday morning, but only got away with some Cheetos and oatmeal cream pies. The men tried to hold up the Clark gas station at East 38th and North Oxford streets on the city's east side, but the clerk said he knew he was safe behind bullet-proof glass and a heavy, locked door. So he simply got on the floor and waited for the robbers to go away. They took about $5 worth of snacks before fleeing. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
