Police: Woman raped in home invasion

An east-side Indianapolis woman said she was raped during a robbery at her apartment late Monday night near 42nd Street and
Post Road. Police said there was no sign of forced entry, so they believe the three intruders simply knocked on the door and
were let inside. That's when witnesses said they showed their guns and asked, "Where's the money?" Police
said one of the suspects forced a male resident into a closet at gunpoint while the other two ransacked the home and raped
the woman. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
 

Some states suing feds also claim health subsidies

An administration official said Tuesday that seven states, including Indiana, suing the federal government are among 16 already
approved for subsidies to help with the health care costs of early retirees.

Kokomo firm taps state tax credits to make animated film

Kokomo-based Bach Morris Technologies Corp. will spend $2.4 million to produce “Whoever Heard of a Herd of Fird?”
a movie based on company co-founder Othello Bach’s 1984 best-seller “Whoever Heard of a Fird?” A Ball State
University commercial spinoff will provide production and design services.

CIB approves 2011 budget

Including debt obligations, the CIB’s total budget for 2011 is expected to be $104.4 million. The City-County Council is set
to receive the budget at its Sept. 20 meeting and could approve it Oct. 25.

Housing

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the pace of mortgage loan activity increased 4.9 percent for the week ended Aug. 20, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. The rate for 30-year mortgages decreased to 4.55 percent from 4.6 percent the previous week. The rate for 15-year mortgages fell to 3.91 percent from 3.99 percent.
