Woman injured after crashing into building

June 4, 2013

 A woman was seriously hurt after crashing her car into a building in Speedway about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The woman drove her blue Mercedes into Appearances Styling Salon near 16th Street and Lynhurst Drive. She was trapped in the vehicle for about 25 minutes until firefighters freed her. Police weren't sure what led to the crash.

Fishers buys properties, moves dirt to draw developers

Officials have quietly struck deals with more than a half-dozen property owners in the triangle-shaped targeted area west of Lantern Road, east of the railroad tracks and north of 116th Street.

Bullet hits woman in apartment

April 29, 2013

An Indianapolis woman was injured early Monday morning by a bullet that entered her second-floor apartment from outside. The victim told police she was styling her friend’s hair about 12:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Bolton Avenue, near East 16th Street and Arlington Avenue, when she was shot near her armpit. She was hospitalized in good condition. Police are investigating to see whether the shooting was intentional.

Storms keep fire crews busy

April 17, 2013

Thunderstorms that rumbled across central Indiana led to several lightening-related house fires in Hamilton and Boone counties early Wednesday. Two fires were reported in Fishers, with one in the 10400 block of Woods Edge Drive and another on Laurel Falls Lane. Carmel saw home fires in 900 block of West 116th Street and in the 2500 block of Sutton Drive. Zionsville reported a fire in the 1100 block of Huntington Woods Point. Lightening also caused damage to an airplane and a ramp at Indianapolis International Airport.
 

West-side gun shop robbed

April 10, 2013

Burglars used a vehicle to rip the metal security bars off the front of a west-side Indianapolis gun shop Wednesday morning before fleeing with a still-undetermined number of firearms. The theft took place at 500 Guns in the 3600 block of West 16th Street at about 3:15 a.m. Investigators say the burglars likely fled faster than they planned after numerous security alarms were set off.
 

Cop dragged by fleeing suspect

April 9, 2013

Indianapolis officer Daniel Slightom suffered minor injuries early Tuesday when he was dragged about 50 feet by a car driven by a fleeing suspect. Slightom pulled over Brian Henderson, 40, about 2 a.m. near West 16th Street and Lafayette Road for traffic violations. Henderson took off as the officer leaned into his vehicle, dragging him in the process. After a chase that ended in the 2400 block of Lafayette Road, Henderson was subdued with a stun gun. He faces charges of battery, fleeing arrest and possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine.

Credit union robbed in Carmel

April 2, 2013

Carmel police are seeking two suspects in an armed robbery of the Forum Credit Union in Carmel on Monday. The men, wearing masks, entered the credit union at 2259 E. 116th St., about 9:30 a.m. and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. They fled in a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt that was found abandoned near 116th Street and Keystone Avenue.

Whole Foods shelves store slated for Fishers

High-end grocery chain Whole Foods Market Inc. wants to triple the number of stores it operates, but the company has bagged plans for a location on 116th Street in Fishers.

One dead, 3 injured in shooting

March 6, 2013

One man was killed and three others injured in a shooting Tuesday about 8 p.m. at Wellington Apartments on the east side of Indianapolis. The dead man was identified as Michael Baker, 25, a resident of the apartments near East 16th Street and Interstate 465.
Two other men were taken to Wishard Hospital, with one in critical condition and the other in serious condition. The fourth man was treated and released at the scene. Police are looking for a dark vehicle with two males seen leaving the scene.
 

INDOT to discuss I-69 work

February 25, 2013

The Indiana Department of Transportation plans a 6 p.m. public meeting Monday at the Fishers Train Station to outline this year’s Interstate 69 construction schedule. The meeting will cover ongoing work around Exit 205 (116th Street) and the State Road 37 interchange. After a delay in completing the northbound side of the interchange, the contractor plans to complete the work as soon as March 15. The same contractor will then move on to the southbound lanes. A separate contractor will add new lanes to I-69 between 116th Street and I-465.
 

First Internet plans 48 jobs in $4.3M Fishers office

February 19, 2013

The $4.3 million expansion will go toward purchasing and refurbishing a building near Interstate 69 and 116th Street that formerly housed the St. Vincent Health medical center.

-Celadon Realty LLC bought 7.5 acres of land at 3255 N. Post Road. The buyer was represented by Brian Zurawski of Summit Realty Group. The seller, Duncan Supply Co. Inc., was represented by Ross Reller of Colliers International.

-TCC Real Estate Holdings LLC bought two commercial buildings totaling 38,000 square feet and 3.6 acres of land at 1002 and 1022 E. 52nd St. The buyer was represented by Brooke Augustin Sipe of Alliance Commercial Group. The seller, 52nd Street Realty LLC, represented itself.

-Marathon Petroleum Co. bought a 1.25-acre outlot at Geist Landing of Fishers, 116th Street and Olio Road, Fishers. The buyer was represented by Bob Byrne of Edge Commercial Real Estate. The seller, Thompson Thrift Development, was represented by Ashlee Boyd of Thompson Thrift.

-Balkamp Inc. renewed its lease for 123,840 square feet and leased an additional  61,920 square feet in North Airport Park Building 2, 7750-54 West Morris St. The tenant was represented by Chris Horton of One Source Realty Inc. The landlord, Duke Realty, was represented by Duke's Jay Archer.

-Schenker Logistics Inc. leased 86,400 square feet in Park 100 Building 91, 4919 W. 78th St. The tenant was represented by Mark Writt of CBRE. The landlord, Duke Realty, was represented by Duke's Jay Archer.

-Quest Environmental & Safety renewed its lease for  27,492 square feet in Exit 5  Building 2, 11947-11955 Cumberland Road, Fishers. The tenant was represented by Mike Lubbers of Summit Realty. The landlord, Duke Realty, was represented by Duke's Jay Archer.

Power failure hits Fishers

January 22, 2013

A faulty electrical conductor near 116th Street and Allisonville Road left more than 1,600 Duke Energy Corp. customers in Fishers without power overnight. The outage knocked out lights at several intersections and forced a Kroger store to close. The problem was reported about 2:50 a.m. and resolved by 5 a.m.

Investor: Kroger missed chance to buy ‘linchpin’ property for new store

The owner of a row of three 1930s apartment buildings—which Kroger claims are standing in the way of a new store at 16th Street and Central Avenue—says he tried for months to sell the buildings to the grocery chain for a total of $175,000 but never got an answer.

Bystanders brave lake to rescue driver, child

December 28, 2012

A woman says she struggled to hold her 5-year-old daughter above water before pushing her to a man who jumped into a frigid lake to help after their SVU left a suburban Indianapolis road. The incident happened just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday when 43-year-old Carrie Mattingly of McCordsville says she hit slush at 116th Street and Hoosier Road in Fishers. Her SUV went out of control and into an old quarry. Multiple bystanders jumped into the water to help rescue the pair. Mattingly and her daughter were taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

Fishers police nab robbery suspect

Fishers police have arrested a man they say was involved in the robbery of a local jewelry store. Dwayne Pope, 19, was preliminarily charged with robbery, two counts of criminal confinement and theft. Police said Pope and an unidentified man robbed the Jewelry Gallery Store at 116th Street and Allisonville Road on June 11. The gunmen tied up the employees during the robbery.

–John Hanley and Terry Busch of CBRE have been hired to sublease a 177,891-square-foot manufacturing plant on 9.9 acres at Exit Five Parkway near Interstate 69 and 116th Street. The plant, which is being vacated by Diamond Foods Inc. in January, will be available for sublease in February.

-Channeled Resources Group leased 48,600 square feet of industrial space at 6555 E. 30th St. The tenant was represented by Luke Wessel of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, First Industrial Realty Trust, was represented by Brian Seitz and Brian Buschuk of Jones Lang LaSalle.
 
-Peng Li International Trading Inc. leased 27,657 square feet of industrial space at 1710 Jenkins St. The tenant was represented by J.D. Graves of CBRE. The landlord, Brookside Industrial Center LLC, was represented by Fritz Kauffman and Michael Weishaar of Cassidy Turley.

-Silicis Technologies Inc. leased 12,000 square feet of industrial space at 17110 Westfield Park Road, Westfield. The tenant was represented by Fritz Kauffman of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, James Thomas, was represented by Drew Pattyn of Northern Commercial.

-Carpet Decorators Inc. leased 9,600 square feet of industrial space at 5711 5741 W. Minnesota St. The tenant was represented by Bryan Poynter of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, Duke Realty Corp., was represented by Duke's Mark Hosfeld.

-Colliers International leased 7,614 square feet of office space at 9339 Priority Way West Drive. The tenant was represented by Sam Smith of Colliers International. The landlord, Pace Properties, was represented by Darrin Boyd and Dave Moore of Cassidy Turley.

-Interactions Corp. leased 5,878 square feet of office space at 3035 N. Shadeland Ave. The tenant was represented by John Crisp of Cassidy Turley. The landlord, First Highland, was represented by Bennett Williams of Cassidy Turley.

-Accurate Laser renewed its lease for 5,400 square feet of industrial space at Andrade Industrial, 10658 Andrade Drive, Zionsville. The landlord, Andrade Industrial LLC, was represented by Brady Clements of Skyline Property Group. The tenant represented itself.

-Advanced Construction leased 3,200 square feet of industrial space at Brookville Park 52, 8464 Brookville Road. The landlord, Brookville P52 LLC, was represented by Brady Clements of Skyline Property Group. The tenant represented itself.

-Powder Metal leased an additional 3,050 square feet of industrial space at Brookville Park 52, 8458 Brookville Road. The landlord, Brookville P52 LLC, was represented by Brady Clements of Skyline Property Group. The tenant represented itself.
