The restaurant and entertainment chain Dave & Buster’s plans to open in Greenwood Park Mall in summer 2020, marking its second Indiana location.

“The addition of Dave & Buster’s offers our shoppers a new entertainment option that this side of the city hasn’t seen before,” mall manager Steve Kempe said in a prepared statement provided by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group. Greenwood Park Mall is owned by Simon.

Dave & Buster’s will occupy the former J.C. Penney Home Store space, which is currently vacant. The retailer has consolidated its Home Store merchandise into its main department store at the mall.

Dallas-based Dave & Buster’s offers a full-service restaurant and a variety of games and activities for all ages, including video games, virtual reality and, in some locations, billiards and bowling. Menu items include burgers, steaks, ribs, pasta, salads, appetizers and desserts, as well as beer and cocktails.

The company got its start when a restaurant owner, and the owner of a nearby entertainment venue, decided to join forces and open a combined establishment. The first Dave & Buster’s store opened in a 40,000-square-foot former warehouse in 1982.

The chain now has more than 110 locations around the United States, as well as in Canada and Puerto Rico. It already counts an Indianapolis-area location in Castleton, which opened in 2009 in a 35,000-square-foot space previously occupied by CompUSA.
