I wonder if Simon could end up owning Gamestop. The fact many (most?) Gamestop stores are actually not in shopping malls could make it an unappealing purchase, as well as the uncertainty around physical retail for video games.
I don’t see Gamestop lasting for 5 years, and maybe not even that long. The company keeps trying different gimmicks to stay relevant, all of which have failed. They can’t compete on price like big box stores can, they can’t compete on service, quality, or selection like used/vintage game stores can. Their refurbed consoles are generally considered poor to average at best. That most of their stores are within minutes (or within the same strip as) a Wal-Mart or Target which sells the same products for less means they’re pretty much irrelevant.
