Officer hurt after robbery

A Plainfield police officer was injured in a fall early Thursday while apprehending a man who grabbed cash from a register at a Kroger store and tried to flee. Police say 29-year-old Russell Flateau of Michigan was cashing in change at about 12:30 a.m. when he shoved the cashier out of the way and took money from the drawer. A Kroger employee ran after the suspect, who was caught by a police dog. Flateau will be charged with robbery, theft and battery.
