The Troy, Mich.-based company will invest $30 million to build and equip a 735,000-square-foot distribution center on 50 acres in Marion. The facility, which is expected to break ground in March and be complete in December, will allow the company to house all distribution operations at one location.
Dunham’s Sports, which already has more than 600 workers in Indiana, will begin hiring new warehouse employees this fall.
The chain has more than 200 stores in 17 states. It has operated a distribution center in Marion since 1994.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Dunham’s up to $500,000 in tax credits and up to $50,000 in training grants based on the company's job-creation plans. The tax credits are performance-based, meaning that until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives.
In addition, the IEDC will provide the community with up to $150,000 in infrastructure assistance from the state's Industrial Development Grant Fund. The city of Marion is considering additional tax abatement and incentives.
