New restaurants open in downtown Indianapolis

January 12, 2009
Two new restaurants near the corner of Washington and Pennsylvania streets have opened their doors.

Home-grown chain Scotty's Brewhouse opened its 10,000-square-foot restaurant in the revamped Jefferson Plaza (soon to be Allen Plaza) along Virginia Avenue. An outdoor seating area and fire pit still are under construction, as is work on the rest of the building.

And a new locally owned Argentine restaurant, Taste of Tango, was scheduled to open in a renovated building along the first block of East Washington Street a few doors down from Dunkin' Donuts. A deli is in the works for the building just east of Taste of Tango, and a Blimpie's sub shop is planned less than a block away in a Pennsylvania Street storefront that formerly housed a Jimmy John's sandwich shop.
