The Indiana Department of the American Legion, the state's largest veterans organization, has scheduled a Sunday dedication of its new headquarters building.
After 88 years in its current downtown Indianapolis location, the group is relocating from a spot adjacent to the Legion's national headquarters in downtown Indianapolis to the former Fort Benjamin Harrison in Lawrence.
IBJ first reported on the Legion's plan to move in March.
The Indiana Legion was chartered Aug. 1, 1921, and has been headquartered on the American Legion Mall in downtown Indianapolis since 1926. Its building there is being taken over by the Indiana state archives in a $17 million project.
