Freeman has such an anti-Blue Line stance because he and his donors (i.e. car dealerships) feel threatened by the thought of meaningful transit.
If only Freeman fought as hard for funding as he does against IndyGo.
Freeman found 8 million? Lovely. That’s what, a handful of road miles rebuilt? Meanwhile IndyGo delivers nine figures of federal funds to rebuild and repurpose multiple more miles of underutilized roads like Washington. And we are going to turn it down because Freeman hates buses which don’t even run in much of his district,
Maybe he’s just embarrassed IndyGo does more for local roads than Marion County Republicans. Or he couldn’t hack it as a transportation engineer and went into law instead.
Hopefully this dies. The voters approved it. This doesn’t affect any of the suburban or rural communities and is clearly another example of anti-Indianapolis legislation.
the blue line – like the red line – is a terrible idea. it only makes it harder for people to take the bus. Whoever thought of this did not think of the bus riders – all they saw was money and removing cars from the road. the red line is barely used.
a prime example of government waste.
Which part? The fact that Freeman has wasted thousands of hours on this stinking pile of s#@t or the fact that he is doing absolutely nothing to actually help his constituents?
Dedicated public transit lines would reduce traffic, slow down traffic and soften the street so that it becomes safer and a more attractive entry to the city.
US 40 is no longer needed as a major thoroughfare through Indianapolis – I-70 does that quite well. We don’t need people racing up and down the road.
A cheaper, easier alternative to get directly to the airport is sorely needed. The cost of a one-way Lyft ride is $37 ($74 round trip) and a taxi is $24 ($48 round trip). A bus fare would be no more than $4 ($8 round trip) from our downtown.
We have the funds to do this now – that money will not be available we do not implement dedicated lanes.
If Freeman is so concerned about this, he should have stayed on the city-county council – he needs to start acting like a state legislator and get out of city business.
Businesses where I I will spend my money to: Markin Sales, Builders First Source, Giltman’s Glass Service and Fusek True Value Hardware.
Correction: Businesses where I will NOT spend my money: Markin Sales, Builders First Source, Giltman’s Glass Service and Fusek True Value Hardware.
The majority of our State Legislators are nothing more than a group of self righteous hateful busy bodies.
By the way Sen. Freeman, the Gov in his search of his next job, just snatched 7.1 mill of that 8 mill you found and will be spending it on his political stunt of disrupting 50 Indiana National Guard members lives by sending them to the boarder.
And this way just days after the repubs in Washington at the direction of their cult leader, blocked the most comprehensive bi-partisan bill to control our border in decades.
