  1. Republicans should have thought about the need for Democratic votes back when they decided to pull items out of the agreed upon budget via rescission. They caused this issue for themselves.

    What the Republicans have going for themselves is that the Democrats are fools and likely will get played on this issue yet again.

    1. Joe, both sides have been doing this to each other since Bill Clinton was president, and maybe earlier?, it’s actually predictable and humorous. If there’s a shutdown, it’s only vacations paid after the fact.

    2. Kevin, neither Bush nor Obama nor Biden did it. Just Trump. Republicans have full control of government. Just pass bills, it’s not that hard.

      We saved for years to go to Hawaii only for a Trump shutdown to make visiting national parks there a waste of time since everything was closed. I did not find it funny at the time, nor has the passage of time dulled the pointlessness of the entire tantrum he threw.
