How utterly ridiculous. I’ve worked the polls as an Inspector or Judge more than 30 years and everyone who arrives at the Polling Place by 6:00 PM is ushered into the polling place before the polls close at 6:00 PM. Then, the staff stays until the last voter who arrived before the 6:00 PM closing time has voted, no matter how late that is. Period.
At times, that means poll workers who arrived no later than 5:30 AM to accomplish the Election Morning duties before the polls opened at 6:00 AM and were there until the polls closed and the last voter has voted, may have been at the polling place 14 or more hours. Polling Place workers are not allowed to leave at any time during the day, either.

Yes, I read the article. It appeared that the hypothetical voter arrived at the polls before 6 PM but the polling place had run out of ballots. However, it was her choice to leave before additional ballots arrived. (And for as enlightened and high tech as The People’s Republic of Monroe County is supposed to be, why were they still using paper ballots in 2018? For Pete’s sake, paper ballots have been obsolete for decades. I work the polls in Hendricks Country and can’t remember when we last had paper ballots; all our voting has been by electronic voting machines for decades. Obviously I agree: The Democrats who run Monroe County have some culpability in this mess, as Democrats who run things that go awry usually do…)
So it’s the Democrats fault? Isn’t it Trump who is encouraging not to vote by mail, yet he does it every year? Isn’t it Trump who is tearing down the 200+ year voting system we have had for 200 plus years? and isn’t it Trump who incites racism, violence and hatred amongst our fellow citizens? Yeah, everything is the Democrats fault. SMH

How many days have you worked the polls, A.T? Do it a couple years and then come back and tell us why the polls should be open longer than 12 hours, with the workers themselves working about an hour and a half total beyond that, OK?
Johnson County experienced a massive amount of issues either in the 2018 or 2019 general, yet they didn’t extend the poll hours. I suspect it was due to this law.
