Multiple retailers, restaurants and other businesses and organizations recently opened or began planning new locations in the north suburbs of Indianapolis. Here’s a rundown:

Stella House Books + Cafe

A Carmel couple has announced plans to open an independent bookstore in city’s Arts & Design District.

Sean and Miranda Armie plan to open Stella House Books + Cafe next spring at 31 S. Rangeline Road in the former location of Blue House Bridal, which is now operating at 311 N. Rangeline Road.

Sean and Miranda Armie

The Armies closed on the property May 5. An extensive renovation of the building is expected to begin this summer.

Stella House Books will carry a collection of classics, contemporary books and gifts when the store opens next year. The store will feature themed rooms, a fireplace, a children’s section in a playroom and a mystery room with a secret door. It will also have a patio, cafe and event space.

“We believe the best stories don’t just live on the pages of books; they unfold in the spaces where people come together to experience them,” Miranda Armie said in written remarks. “At Stella House Books, we’re creating a place where readers of all ages can slow down, discover something new, and feel like they’ve found a second home.”

Construction on Stella House Books will be led by local partners Indianapolis-based designer Parallel Design Group, Indianapolis-based Bischoff Construction and Zionsville-based Design Point Architects.

Goodwill

Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana plans to open a store at 5900 W. 96th St. in Zionsville. An expected opening date has not been announced.

Last month, members of the Zionsville Plan Commission voted to approve a development plan for Goodwill’s 14,300-square-foot store, which will be built on about 2.5 acres of vacant land.

Goodwill has more than 70 retail stores in Indiana.

Aldi

Aldi has opened its second grocery store in Westfield.

The Germany-based discount grocer opened the 20,000-square-foot store on May 22 at the SpringMill Pointe development along the south side of State Road 32 at 54 E. Spring Mill Pointe Dr.

The Aldi store is east of Valvoline Instant Oil Change and west of Slim Chickens, a Fayetteville, Arkansas-based chicken finger restaurant.

Aldi also operates a store at 14620 Greyhound Plaza, which has a Carmel postal address, but is on the north side of 146th Street in Westfield.

Aldi operates nearly 90 stores in Indiana, including five locations in Hamilton County, with single stores in Carmel, Fishers and Noblesville.

SpringMill Pointe is a 14-acre, nine-lot commercial development along State Road 32. Along with Valvoline Instant Oil Change and Slim Chickens, the development is also home to a Goodwill store that opened in November, Sonic Drive-In and Tractor Supply Co.

Dutch Bros. Coffee

Oregon-based Dutch Bros. Coffee opened its first Indiana store on June 13 at 14560 Mundy Drive, near the southeast corner of State Road 37 and East 146th Street in Indiana. Long lines of cars have been a common sight at the store since its opening.

Customers at Dutch Bros., which is known for its hand-crafted drinks and drive-thru service, will find a menu that includes a variety of coffees, smoothies, freezes, teas, shakes, energy drinks and snacks.

Dane and Travis Boersma founded Dutch Bros in 1992 with a double-head espresso machine and pushcart in Grants Pass, Oregon. The company opened its first franchise store in 2000 in Oregon, and the brand began spreading throughout the northwest before expanding nationwide.

Dutch Bros. is open 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Potbelly

Potbelly Sandwich Shop opened May 20 at 2436 E. 146th St. in Cool Creek Commons in Westfield.

The Westfield restaurant is Potbelly’s fourth shop in the Indianapolis area, with locations in Carmel, Indianapolis and Noblesville. There are 11 Potbelly restaurants in Indiana.

Potbelly in Westfield is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Bocado Brunch & Te’Kila

Bocado Brunch & Te’Kila, a restaurant established by Hugo Zavala that offers a fusion of Mexican and American flavors, opened in May at 188 Westfield Road on the first floor of the Federal Hill Apartments in Noblesville.

The restaurant’s menu includes breakfast platters, omelets, eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, French toast, cocktails and mimosas. Zavala previously opened Mornings Breakfast & Brunch in Indianapolis and Los Agaves in McCordsville and Westfield.

Bocado Brunch & Te’Kila is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

Bowdie’s Chophouse

Bowdie’s Chophouse, a high-end steakhouse and bar with three restaurants in Michigan and locations in Savannah, Georgia, and Hilton Head, South Carolina, is expected to open this month in Zionsville.

Bowdie’s Chophouse will be located at 10814 Creek Way, Suite 2, at NTT IndyCar Series driver Graham Rahal’s GR Brands headquarters at Creekside Corporate Park. Rahal opened his $20 million automotive headquarters last summer adjacent to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team headquarters that opened in 2022.

Bowdie’s Chophouse, founded by Scott Bowdish, will pay tribute to the Indianapolis 500 by featuring checkered flag-inspired black and white tile and a rotating car museum.

Rahal’s complex hosts Graham Rahal Performance (selling and servicing elite street cars), Rahal Paint Protection, Rahal Precision Tint and Rahal Ducati Indianapolis (an Italian motorcycle dealership). A second building hosts another motorcycle dealership, Rahal Piaggio Indianapolis; a high-end car storage facility and members-only social club called Wheelhouse; and Bowdie’s Chophouse.

Wawa

Wawa plans to open its fourth Indiana store on July 10 at 3835 E. 96th St. on the line between Carmel and Indianapolis. The Pennsylvania-based chain of convenience stores previously opened stores in Clarksville, Daleville and Noblesville.

Wawa has more than 1,100 stores across nine states and Washington, D.C. The retail convenience stores offer built-to-order food such as hoagies and breakfast sandwiches, beverages, coffee drinks, and, in a majority of locations, gasoline.

Huntington National Bank

Huntington National Bank opened a branch on June 11 at 12505 Old Meridian St. in Carmel. Huntington has 36 branches in the central Indiana region.
