Indianapolis International Airport tops the list of 64 major airports in the country when in comes to overall passenger satisfaction,
according to a survey released Thursday by J.D. Power and Associates.
The airport’s No. 1 position improves upon its ranking of 13th in the last study conducted two years ago. The jump
likely can be attributed to its new, $1.1 billion terminal that opened 14 months ago.
Indianapolis received perfect scores of five points in the categories of overall satisfaction, accessibility, check-in, security,
terminal and food and retail services. It scored four out of five in the baggage claim category. No other airport received
as many perfect scores.
Besides taking the highest honor, the city’s airport also topped the list of small airports, or those used by fewer
than 10 million passengers annually. Kansas City International Airport ranked first among medium-size airports, and Detroit
Metropolitan Wayne County Airport took the top prize for large airports.
