Indiana budget faces hundreds of possible changes

Lawmakers in the Indiana House face a daunting list of proposed changes to the state budget as they get back to work following a lengthy boycott by Democrats.

More than 330 proposed amendments to the state budget bill were listed online as of Monday night, and Republican House Speaker Brian Bosma said more are pending.

Bosma told lawmakers he's not sure if it's worth their time to work through hundreds of amendments as they try to meet legislative deadlines later this week. Lawmakers who propose amendments can choose whether or not they want the House to consider them.

Bosma said the amendments filed are likely a state record. It's not entirely surprising, however, because lawmakers had plenty of time during the walkout to come up with changes to the budget.
