As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowIt’s not quite an “airport in a box,” but at the Indianapolis Airport Authority’s summer auction, one could buy pretty much everything except the runways and terminal.
The auction, Aug. 14 at the authority’s Maintenance and Operations building, 2000 S. Banner Ave., is likely to draw numerous small-businesses owners looking to equip the office on the cheap.
Laptops, PCs, flat-screen monitors, fire extinguishers, tools and scrap metal are perennial favorites. There’s also the obligatory airport fire-rescue truck, shuttle buses and X-ray machines.
Also up for auction are lost-and-found items such as jewelry, with many a bidder hoping to sell the items, later, for more than they paid for them.
Prospective bidders will be able to inspect the offerings on Aug. 13.
The auction is being conducted by New Haven-based AAA Auction Service.
Though not on the auction block, the old airport terminal, which is slated for demolition, stands nearby. Bring a truck big enough to haul it away and the airport might make you a deal.
