Gary-Chicago International Airport interim Director Steve Landry said the control tower there is set to close Friday, The Times of Munster reported. Landry said the airport will remain open, but airplanes will have follow guidelines for landing without a control tower.
Purdue University Airport Director Betty Stansbury told the Journal & Courier that if the FAA closes the control tower, the university would look for other methods to keep it open.
WTHI-TV reported the Terre Haute control tower will be unstaffed part of the time.
The FAA also says the overnight shift in Fort Wayne could be eliminated.
