Fisher Dynamics said Wednesday that it will create 169 jobs within two years of the opening of a 113,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Evansville. The privately-owned company that makes automotive seating components plans to invest $13 million in the operation. It plans to manufacture and assemble front-row seat structures at the new plant.
"The location of Evansville allows us to service our central U.S. customers," said John Hrit, vice president of global operations of Fisher Dynamics. "We look forward to working with the community of Evansville. The city has provided great support in the search for our new location."
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered St. Clair Shores, Michigan-based Fisher & Co., which owns Fisher Dynamics, as much as $1.2 million in conditional tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on job-creation plans. The Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville has also offered support through the proposal of an incentives package that includes an eight-year tax phase-in on personal property.
"The company will be hiring more than 160 employees over the next two years, with an economic impact of nearly $22 million a year. These are good-paying jobs offering good benefits that will boost our economy and help the Tri-State region thrive," Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said.
The average wage at the Evansville plant is expected to be about $19.61 per hour. The company plans to begin renovations in December and operations in May.
Fisher has operations in the U.S., Mexico, Germany, Poland, China and India. It currently employs about 1,700 people across the globe.
