The Portland, Oregon-based Italian restaurant chain said it plans to open for business on April 16 at 918 S. Range Line Road.
The location will be only the second in Indiana for the 49-year-old family-friendly chain. The state’s only other Old Spaghetti Factory opened at 210 S. Meridian St. in downtown Indianapolis in 1982.
IBJ reported in May that the chain had reached a 10-year lease agreement with Pedcor Cos. on the 11,500-square-foot building, which was previously occupied by Shapiro’s Delicatessen. Shapiro’s built the restaurant in 2001 and operated there until June 2013. The building has been empty ever since.
The new restaurant will be the 44th in the Old Spaghetti Factory chain. It will be open for dinner daily and for lunch on weekends.
Restaurant officials said about 100 people will be hired at the new restaurant, which will contain two private banquet rooms, an outdoor patio and a trademark trolley car in the dining area.
“With our history in Indianapolis, opening a second location in the surrounding area has been a goal of ours for some time now,” Chris Dussin, chairman of chain, said in a written statement. “The location in Carmel City Center caught our eye right away and we couldn’t be more excited about opening.”
