The Facebook page for the restaurant, located at 4670 Southport Crossing Drive, says that the eatery is “permanently closed.” An employee who answered the phone at the location said its last day of operation was Monday, and that the closure was “a corporate decision.”
The chain is owned by Houston-based Luby’s Inc., which also owns Luby's Cafeteria and Fuddruckers. A Luby’s media contact did not immediately respond to IBJ’s request for comment.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the chain’s website only listed two locations: one in Omaha, Nebraska, and the other in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The chain was founded by Buffett in 2002. Luby’s bought the chain in 2012 for $11 million, ending Buffett’s association with the restaurant. At the time it counted 23 locations in 14 states, according to Reuters.
Luby’s closed several locations in 2014, including one in Fishers at Interstate 69 and 96th Street, now occupied by Riviera Maya Mexican Cuisine.
