Sad state of affairs when the word of the retailers is more trustworthy than “researchers”. I mean, of course retailers don’t want to lose out on all that cash money. Convenience-oriented stores can charge outrageous prices for pop or candy, and since most of it takes years to expire, it reaps a huge profit margin. So retailers have a vested interest.
A state with one of the highest levels of obesity is enforcing some accountability on the state’s poorest constituents (who also are typically among the most obese), when these same constituents purchase much of their food through public aid.
But for “researchers” to think this is bad shows primarily that they’ve been ideologically captured. If these are “scientists” or “experts”, it’s no better than the physicians of yesteryear who recommended low-tar cigarettes as the healthy alternative. Retailers might be slimy and cynical, but it’s their bottom line; at least they aren’t bought and paid for.
*”typically the among the most obese” is there some data to back that statement up or is that something you added to up the hate meter?
Walk through a grocery store parking lot and take a look.
