  1. The real issue is Indiana’s urban speed limits, which are much lower than cities we compete with. In Ohio, beltways like I-465 are posted at 65MPH, and even freeways “inside the loop” are often at 65MPH. It’s similar in Michigan.

    1. I’ve also found the roads in Ohio are much smoother than the roads in Indiana. Michigan, though, is an entirely different story…

    2. Doesn’t really matter what’s posted, Aaron Renn. Post covid, posted speed limits are viewed as a suggestion, not a law.

And I see cars blowing through red lights literally every day while I’m driving around Indy. Sad. Seems the world we knew even 10 years ago is far over…

    3. Nobody goes 55 on I-465 and I never see anyone getting pulled over for speeding. Like Michael writes the speed limit is merely a suggestion. I think the safety of driving has decreased dramatically over the past 10 years. Ignoring school zone speed limits, optional turn signals, running red lights, changing lanes without signaling, being on the phone and my favorite the late night crazy fast people weaving in and out of traffic or the group of motorcyclists doing the same thing. It’s crazy out there. I don’t think 10 miles per hour with the truckers is going to matter because they also ignore the speed limits.
