I’m sure these cuts in services to the most vulnerable students in the core IPS system have nothing to do with the privatizers sucking away resources. Nothing to see here!
The “equal” but not “equitable” funding changes is also troubling. A school district like Carmel doesn’t need the same funding per student as IPS. One need only visit the school districts that complained about the previous model to see that they were already far better off than IPS.
Honestly I think American schools coddle children a little too much and learning how to navigate to school by themselves, starting in middle school, is important part of developing personal responsibility. That’s how it’s still done in Europe and it’s commendable. That said, IndyGo needs to continue to improve service to make this possible and safe.
