Councilor Gibson, don’t you think it would be in the best interests of your constituents, you know, your bosses, the people who elected you to represent them, if you met with them and talked them through the ” “more incentives” from Metrobloks to the community, with details to be presented in April” BEFORE the April 1st MDC hearing? So your plan is to spring it on them at the April 1st MDC, giving them no time to determine if those are acceptable or not? I hope you enjoy your last term as CCC. Because you are doing a horrible job and should be fired at the next election.
Apparently you have not paid attention over the last +-6-8 months on the project. Gibson has been at the forefront with these neighbors at numerous meetings and has been transparent the whole time they the media, etc. Councilman Gibson patiently tried to educate and negotiate. Unfortunately these neighbors grasped at the bigger issues associated with the larger 400-600 acre projects proposed over the last year, and automatically assumed this site has the same issues, of which it never did. No heavy water or electric use as the large centers first requested. This Derelict site is perfect for this proposal and will be improved to a higher level than any site or business in the area.
There’s a lot of fear-mongering and false information regarding data centers. How long has this area been vacant? What type of development is desired? Without significant subsidies, no retail or grocery store is going there. This investment might be as good as it gets and would likely be beneficial to the City.
