Priority list includes Loretta Lynn and a celebration of Eiteljorg addition

April 20, 2015

Here are some choices of A&E options for this week.

The Sails

The new shade structure at the Eiteljorg Museum officially “opens” with a free day of music, storytelling, and family activities. Chuck wagon cook Randy Dyer will be serving cobbler samples, musicians Holly and Rick Garrett (aka Patchwork) will lead sing-along  tunes, Belinda Mulrooney will tell stories of the gold rush (tied to the current exhibition) and, inevitably, a ribbon will be cut.

Loretta Lynn

I still can’t click past the movie “Coal Miner’s Daughter” without stopping and watching. And it’s hard to imagine anyone with even a light tolerance for country music not wanting to see the 83 legend in performance. A true groundbreaker (Her 1975 song “The Pill” is just the beginning) and Presidential Medal of Freedom/Kennedy Center/Grammy Lifetime Achievement honoree, Lynn brings a lifetime of material to the stage, including such hits as “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)” and “One’s on the Way.”
