carwash report fails to mention the neighborhood impact issues, as noted by DMD staff. Also, the vote (approval) was by the Metropolitan Development Commission.
Not an ideal development for the area. Having a one-story car wash so close to a BRT line seems to go against the city’s own TOD (transit-oriented development) guidelines. This is the kind of business that seems to mostly cater to people passing through, not people who live nearby.
I live nearby and am concerned how busy days at the stop will impact EB traffic on 38th or NB traffic on Illinois when it backs up. Flow is going to be so so important. 38th corridor during rush hour has been bad for quite awhile (and red line stuff made it worse).
