Katie Evans
Bio
Katie Evans is the chief programs and mission engagement officer of the Alzheimer's Association. In this role, she provides strategic oversight of our care and support, health systems, public health and mission engagement initiatives to drive risk reduction and early detection and maximize quality care for our constituents.
Evans has more than 20 years of progressive nonprofit experience. In 2019, she joined the Association to lead the Corporate Initiatives team. She effectively guided that team to two record-breaking revenue years. In her previous role as chief mission engagement officer, she led the development and activation of more than 20 new offerings for our constituents. These offerings help us increase our reach and impact from new clinical tools, continuing education programs and a new dementia care navigation service. In her tenure with the Mission Engagement Division, Evans also oversaw evidenced-based and quality care programs, resulting in increased funding and stronger care and support programs and services for individuals, families and professional care providers.
Before joining the Association, Evans spent nearly 15 years at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in development roles with increasing responsibility.
She holds a master of arts degree from Vanderbilt University and a bachelor's degree in advertising from the University of Florida. She has a graduate certificate in public health, with an emphasis in community health management, and is also pursuing a master's in public health with a concentration on population health from the University of Florida.

Bio
Amy Chinn, CLTC, is Vice President of Long-Term Care Claims and Risk Management at OneAmerica Financial, bringing over 25 years of experience in financial services and a passion for serving others through claims. Known for combining strategic insight with genuine empathy, Amy leads with both head and heart, transforming claims organizations into powerful opportunities to support people, drive innovation, and manage risk with intention.
Her work spans disability, life, dental, and long-term care insurance, where she has spearheaded initiatives focused on early intervention, operational excellence, and customer-centered service. As a Certified Executive Coach through the Hudson Institute, Amy inspires high-performing and purpose-driven teams. She holds multiple financial services designations and serves on the board of Dollars for Scholars, advancing access to education.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, reading, listening to music, and hiking.

Dr. Nicole Fowler
Bio
Nicole Fowler, PhD, MHSA holds the Klapper Family Chair in Aging and Caregiving Research at Indiana University. She is an applied health services researcher with a career dedicated to improving care delivery and outcomes for people living with dementia and their families. Her work focuses on improving the organization and delivery of health services for older adults living with complex health and social care needs. She is a leading expert in pragmatic embedded clinical trials in dementia and caregiving research. Dr. Fowler has pioneered innovative, real-world approaches to studying interventions within health systems and community-based settings and has designed and conducted multiple trials in the areas of early detection of dementia and nonpharmacologic approaches in dementia care, family caregiving, and medical decision making for older adults with cognitive impairment.
Dr. Fowler serves as Vice Chair for Research for the Department of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine and is an Associate Professor of Medicine. She is also a scientist at the IU Center for Aging Research at the Regenstrief Institute and is adjunct faculty in the Department of Neurology.
In 2025, she spear-headed the implementation of the new Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Care program at Indiana University Health. This is a statewide dementia care management program that is part of the IUH Brain Health Program.
As an educator, Dr. Fowler mentors multiple junior faculty and trainees and is the Director of the MD-PhD training program in social and behavioral research in Alzheimer’s disease at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Greg Sachs
Bio
Dr. Sachs is Professor of Medicine and Neurology and Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM). He also holds appointments as an Investigator in the IU Center for Aging Research (IUCAR) and the Regenstrief Institute, Inc. and holds an endowed chair in Health Services Research. He received his BA from the University of Chicago, MD degree from Yale University, and completed his medicine residency and fellowships in geriatrics and ethics at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Sachs's research and writing focus on clinical and ethical issues in dementia, including research ethics, care of comorbid medical conditions, and care near the end of life. Dr. Sachs has received grants from the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the leading foundations supporting aging research. He has published over 150articles in peer-reviewed journals, including papers in leading journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Notable publications include “Dying from Dementia” (NEJM 2009) and the results from the IN-PEACE palliative care trial for people living with dementia (JAMA 2025). Dr. Sachs has received both local and national awards including IUCAR Investigator of the Year (2020), IUSM Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award (2023), American Geriatrics Society Outstanding Scientific Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award (2001) and Medical Honoree of the national Alzheimer's Association (2001). Dr. Sachs has served on committees and boards of multiple professional organizations and journals in geriatrics and palliative care.
As a clinician, Dr. Sachs is board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine. He has had a passion for helping to care for people living with dementia and their care partners for 35 years. Dr. Sachs co-founded memory care practices at the University of Chicago and Eskenazi Health and continues to practice in the Aging Brain Care program at Eskenazi.

Derek Small
Bio
Derek is Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Syndeio Biosciences. Over the last two decades, Derek has been launching new biotech companies and developing innovative drugs as Founding Managing Director of Luson Bioventures, a venture creation firm founded in 2007. Derek was the Co-Founder and CEO of Assembly Biosciences, Founder and GM of Assembly China, Founding CEO of Naurex (acquired by Allergan in 2015, leading to the spin-out of Aptinyx), and numerous other Luson Bioventures portfolio companies. In these roles, he has overseen the development of more than 10 novel and innovative drug candidates to address the unmet needs of patients living with diseases of the central nervous system (CNS). Derek has helped to raise upwards of $1 billion from top-tier life science investors and established global and regional partnerships totaling more than $3 billion. To date, three of his companies have achieved greater than $1 billion in market value.
Derek received his bachelor’s degree in business and marketing at Franklin College and studied global business and international marketing in England at Harlaxton College.
