TriMedx nearly doubles workforce with $300M acquisition

TriMedx, a provider of health care technology management services, said it would invest the money in its 78,000-square-foot corporate headquarters near West 71st Street and Zionsville Road and elsewhere in the state.
Indianapolis-based TriMedx, which manages medical equipment for health care providers, named James Willett as president. He previously was general manager of Ireland-based Covidien’s respiratory solutions business unit and, before that, did business development and marketing for Minnesota-based Medtronic’s surgical navigation business. Michael Ryan was named vice president of sales at TriMedx, an Indianapolis-based health care technology management firm. Ryan previously worked for McKesson Medical-Surgical, VWR International and General Electric Corp.’s Healthcare IT division. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and also earned master's degrees in business administration and engineering management from Saint Martin’s College in Washington.
Jane Keller was named interim CEO of OrthoIndy after previous CEO John Martin decided to step down from that position to puruse other opportunities. Keller is CEO of the Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital, in which most OrthoIndy physicians have an ownership stake. Keller earned a degree in nursing from Ball State University and an MBA from Butler University.
Dr. Cherri D. Hobgood has been named professor and chair of the Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine. She will assume her new duties July 11, pending approval by the IU board of trustees. Most recently, Hobgood served as an associate professor and vice chairwoman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She succeeds Dr. Rolly McGrath, who has served as the emergency medicine chairman since 1999.
Indianapolis-based TriMedx, which helps hospitals and health care facilities keep their medical equipment running as it ages, in part by helping to train the hospital’s own staff to do maintenance and repair, named two new directors of sales. Al D’Andrea, based in Chicago, previously worked at MedGyn Products, Medical Outsourcing Services, McKesson and Baxter Healthcare. Glenn Phillips, based in Philadelphia, previously worked at NightHawk Radiology Services, Siemens, Elekta Oncology Systems and Philips. TriMedX is a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ascension Health, the parent organization of Indianapolis-based St. Vincent Health.
TriMedX, a technology-management firm for hospitals, has hired Tom Vorpahl as chief operating officer. For the past eight years, Vorpahl worked at Philips North America, most recently as vice president of sales and business development. Vorpahl holds bachelor's degrees in biology and medical science from the University of Wisconsin. TriMedX is an Indianapolis-based subsidiary of the Ascension Health hospital system.
Batesville-bsed Hill-Rom Holdings Inc. has appointed Mark Guinan chief financial officer, beginning Dec. 13. Guinan is currently chief procurement officer for New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson. Guinan has an undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Olin Graduate School of Management at Washington University. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, he worked for Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble. Guinan succeeds Greg Miller, who has been Hill-Rom's CFO since 2005.
Carmel-based CNO Financial Group Inc. has hired James S. Sawaya as vice president of claims. Sawaya comes from Wisconsin-based HealthEOS by Multiplan Inc., where he served as senior vice president for claim operations, client services, sales and customer service. Sawaya previously worked for UnitedHealthcare and Midwest Security Insurance Cos.
Dr. Charles E. Hughes and Dr. Wayne Lee have joined the St. Francis Medical Group. Their practice, the Indianapolis Institute for Plastic Surgery, is located at 8051 S. Emerson Ave. on the St. Francis Hospital-Indianapolis campus.
