School back in session for several districts

July 30, 2012

Summer vacation is ending this week for several local school districts. Warren Township students returned for their first day of school Monday morning. The school uses a so-called “balanced calendar,” which means shorter summer vacations. School in Perry Township resumes Tuesday. Decatur and Franklin townships head back on Wednesday, and Wayne Township resumes on Friday. Indianapolis Public Schools starts it new year next Monday.
 

District cancels school after thefts

November 28, 2011

Warren Township Schools called off classes Monday morning after thieves stole batteries from more than two-dozen buses belonging to the suburban Indianapolis district. The thefts were discovered at about 5:30 a.m. Officials said at least 26 buses were damaged over the weekend. Thieves cut cables to steal 50 to 60 batteries from the buses, many of which have dual-battery systems.
 

Dozens of students taken to hospital

November 9, 2011

A Wednesday morning school bus accident sent 49 Warren Township students to the hospital, all with minor injuries. The bus scraped a pole, breaking out windows, while traveling to school near 25th Street and Mitthoeffer Road on the far east side of  Indianapolis about 8:30 a.m. Most of the students were taken to the hospital on another bus; five traveled by ambulance.
