Wheel thieves target Carmel apartments

November 23, 2011

The Carmel Police Department is investigating a series of wheel thefts at apartment complexes over the past month. The suspects jack up the vehicles, steal all four wheels, then leave the vehicles on concrete blocks. The Lakes of Carmel, Woodland Springs Manor and Main Street on the Monon have been hit by the thieves. The thieves apparently got interrupted during one theft attempt and left just one lug nut on each wheel of a targeted car. The car’s owner heard something while driving and pulled over before a wheel could come off.

New apartments in 2012 on track for a 25-year high

A survey of developers suggests up to 3,438 new units could hit the rental market next year, which would be the highest total since 1987, when central Indiana gained about 4,500 units.

Man shot, killed at local apartments

Indianapolis police detained a 21-year-old man Thursday morning in connection with a fatal shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis. The shooting occurred just before 7 a.m. at Georgetown Apartments in the 3600 block of Alexandria Court. When officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest dead in a hallway of the apartment building. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Neighbors said the two men were having a disagreement about a woman.
 

Fire ruins 42 Speedway apartments

September 23, 2011

One firefighter and one resident were hurt Thursday evening in a Speedway blaze that displaced 42 families. Fire crews from Indianapolis, Pike Township, Wayne Township, Avon and Speedway spent three hours battling the fire, which broke out at about 6:40 in the 2000 block of High Eagle Trail at Eagle Lake Landing. Three units initially caught fire, and more than 40 of the 62 units suffered heavy damage. The cause is being determined.
 

Apartments gutted by fire

September 12, 2011

A northwest-side apartment building was hit by two fires within 12 hours Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning. Guion Creek Apartments, in 5900 block of Guion Road, was heavily damaged by fires that occurred at 2 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported but at least six families have been displaced. Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fires and whether they were related.

Man found dead at Irvington apartments

August 24, 2011

Indianapolis homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a pool of blood behind an east-side apartment building on Wednesday morning. The unidentified male, believed to be in his 50s, died of unspecified injuries next to the Irvington Arms Apartments in the 5300 block of East Washington Street. Police found the man about 6:45 a.m. Detectives say they are in the process of identifying the victim and locating his family.  

 

Quail Run Apartments in Zionsville changes hands

Richmond, Va.-based McCann Realty Partners LLC bought the 166-unit complex with a $9.25 million loan. The sale marks the second time Quail Run has changed ownership in the past two years.

Fire damages Scandia Apartments

March 18, 2011

A fire that broke out Thursday night at the Scandia Apartments complex near 96th Street and Allisonville Road on the northeast side of Indianapolis caused about $215,000 in damage. No one was injured but 12 people were forced out of their homes because of smoke damage. The Red Cross is helping the residents find a place to stay. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
 

Man shot to death at east-side apartments

December 17, 2010

Indianapolis police are investigating a man’s death at an east-side apartment complex. Officers were called to Teal Run Apartments near 21st Street and Mitthoeffer Road just after 4 p.m. Thursday to investigate a possible robbery and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He died a short time later. The name of the victim has not been released.

Investigators probe new fire at apartments

Investigators are gathering clues after another fire at the Nottingham Village Apartments on the east side of Indianapolis.
Flames shot out of a vacant building in the complex just after 4 a.m. Thursday. The complex has experienced several fires
recently, including one that heavily damaged a building last week. Investigators have not ruled out arson. None of the fires
have resulted in injuries. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
 

Man shot in car outside apartments

April 19, 2010

Indianapolis police are looking for information about a shooting that injured a man sitting in a car outside Mallard Cove
Apartments on North Shadeland Avenue just before 10 p.m. Sunday. The unidentified victim is expected to survive, according
to reports, but police don't have anyone in custody. Investigators have not released information on a motive. Fox59 will
have more at 4 p.m.

707 North Apartments begin leasing for June opening

Fire forces 6 families out of apartments

March 23, 2010

The Red Cross is assisting six families forced out of their apartments by fire. The Fishers Fire Department responded at about
9:45 Monday night to reports of a first-floor fire at the Deerbrook Apartments near Allisonville Road. They put it out, then
used thermal imaging and other tests to make sure it had been extinguished. They were called back at 11 p.m., however, after
the fire reoccurred. About half the apartments in the 16-unit building suffered fire and water damage.

Developer plans expansion of Riley Towers apartments

The owner of downtown’s Riley Towers apartments is working on plans for a 5-story expansion at 225 E. North St. that would
add 54 apartment units and more than 4,000 square feet of retail space.
