The family and friends of a missing Indianapolis man plan to canvas the area where he was last seen. The group will gather to look for Joshua Swalls, 22, near Lakewood Lodge Apartments from 2 p.m. 6 p.m. Tuesday. Swalls was last seen Saturday in the 2600 block of Timberly Drive. His car was found in the parking lot a short time later and his cell phone was recovered at a friend's apartment.

BMV open for voters needing ID

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles will remain open until 6 p.m. to help voters get the proper identification for Election Day. All Hoosiers looking to cast their ballots Tuesday must have photo identification. No other BMV services will be available until Wednesday.

Driver admits drug use before crash

November 6, 2012

A 21-year-old driver who crashed an SUV into a home on the city's northeast side Monday night admitted to taking cocaine and heroin just an hour before crashing, Indianapolis police say. Devon Sylvester was driving westbound on East 56th Street in the 5500 block of Drexel Avenue about 10 p.m. when he drove through front yards, destroying mailboxes and damaging lawns before crashing into the living room of a house, hitting two people sitting on a couch. A teenage girl suffered serious injuries to her collar bone and face.
