Fishers man accused of sexual misconduct

April 27, 2012

A Fishers man was arrested Thursday for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a minor he met on the Internet. Adam Carlisle, 30, was charged with four counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and two counts of child solicitation. According to Fishers police, the male juvenile said he met Carlisle through the website Grindr, which offers users a mobile phone application that locates gay or bisexual males for dating. The victim said he had a sexual encounter in his Fishers home with Carlisle in March. Police began investigating the incident the next day, after the boy’s parents contacted them.

Straub to leave city safety post on Aug. 1

April 27, 2012

Indianapolis Public Safety Director Frank Straub today submitted his resignation from the position, and Mayor Greg Ballard accepted it. Straub’s three-page letter of resignation enumerated many accomplishments over his 28-month tenure, but did not address reasons for his departure, which will be effective Aug. 1. The news comes a month after the department led by Straub announced a $15 million budget deficit. Straub has been criticized for hiring Altegrity Inc. to investigate police internal affairs. Altegrity is led by the man who recommended Straub for his job. A recent report shows violent crimes up 15 percent and property crime up 13 percent in Indianapolis.

Simon boosts dividend after gains in sales, occupancy, rent

Simon Property Group Inc. said sales at its U.S. malls jumped 11.2 percent in its most recent quarter, to $546 per square foot. Simon malls were 93.6-percent occupied, up from 93 percent.
