It’s the 60th anniversary of the completion of Miles Davis’ “Birth of Cool” and, in tribute, the
Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra will perform the music from the landmark album in its entirety. On Saturday, Brett Wallarab

Imax at Indiana State Museum

If Pandora seemed a little too fake for you, here’s an “Avatar” alternative. The Indiana State Museum’s
Imax Theatre presents the local premiere of “Hubble 3D,” narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. It’s the latest
from the creative team that put together “Space Station 3D.

Oh, and you can still see “Avatar” at the Imax, through March 25. After that, “How to Train Your Dragon”

Indiana Experience

Opening March 20 Indiana History Center The Indiana History Center’s exhibition areas reopen this week in a big way
with the launch of “Indiana Experience.” Interactive areas, peopled with re-enactors, bring photographs from the
center’s archives to life. New viewing portals allow for detailed searching of the collection.

And there’s more. This weekend, it’s all opening to the public, which means you don’t have to wait to chaperone
your child’s field trip in order to join in on the educational fun. (Of course, you don’t have to do that, anyway—the
History Center is open to the public, although there will now be an admission charge.) Details here. And watch for a video tour of Indiana Experience coming soon at www.ibj.com.

Man fatally shot after police chase

March 17, 2010

Indianapolis police fatally shot an Indianapolis man Tuesday night after they say he attacked an officer. The shooting took
place after police tried to stop the driver of a 1994 Grand Marquis for a traffic violation near 30th and Richardt streets.
Police Sgt. Paul Thompson said the driver fled and smashed into the squad car before stopping in a field at the end of a dead-end
street on the city's far-east side. "It is my understanding the officer was physically assaulted and possibly knocked
down, and maybe knocked out. At some point in time, he was able to fire and the suspect was shot multiple times," Thompson
said. The 35-year-old suspect later died at Wishard Hospital. The officer went to Methodist Hospital and is in stable condition
with head injuries.

Two children, adult hurt in Plainfield trailer fire

March 17, 2010

Two children and an adult were injured in a trailer fire in Plainfield about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. The children, who lived
in the trailer, were taken to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis with unknown injuries. The rescuer was transported to Wishard
Hospital, also with unknown injuries.
 

Tanker truck flips in Fishers

March 17, 2010

A semi-truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and flipped his tanker truck on northbound Interstate 69 in Fishers early Wednesday
morning. The driver, 61-year-old Muncie resident Larry McLain, was not seriously injured. Highway usage was restricted while
the truck’s load of toxic liquid resin material was transferred to another tanker. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.
