Woman’s remains discovered in Brown County

A southern Indiana coroner said skeletal remains found at a remote site in Brown County are those of a woman who had been dead two years or more. Mushroom hunters found the remains last Thursday in a rugged, wooded area that's a long hike from a rural road. The woman's age has not been determined, and identification might take a week or more.

Man found shot at apartments

April 16, 2013

A man found suffering from a gunshot wound at a west-side Indianapolis apartment complex was taken to Wishard Hospital in serious condition early Tuesday morning. Michael Lauray, 23, was discovered about 1 a.m. in the 5800 block of Magdalene Drive, at Westlake Apartments, but detectives aren’t sure if he was shot at the site. Police said they have no witnesses or suspects.

Ballard: New $6M complex will help attract world sports

School employee fired after charges

April 16, 2013

A Pike Township schools employee was fired Monday after being arrested Sunday on preliminary charges of child molesting. John White, 27, an instructional assistant at Lincoln Middle School, is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in White’s home. White told detectives the teen had slept overnight at his home about 10 times, but he denied any sexual contact. Two male teenage foster children staying with White were removed by the Department of Child Services.
