Emmis buying two radio stations in Terre Haute

The Indianapolis-based company said Wednesday that it has agreed to purchase WSDM-FM 92.7 and WSDX-AM 1300 from Crossroads Investments LLC for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition is expected to close within 45 to 60 days.

Human remains found on east side

August 22, 2012

Police in Indianapolis say people searching for a dog found a shallow grave with human remains. The discovery was made early Wednesday morning in a wooded area in the 2800 block of North Gladstone Avenue on the city's east side. A police specialist was expected to investigate the site and work to identify the remains; a man who found the grave says the body appeared to be that of an older man, based on the clothing.

IndyGo airport express route ending

August 22, 2012

IndyGo’s Green Line Downtown/Airport express-service route will come to an end Sunday, officials announced Wednesday. IndyGo said a federal grant that funded the service has been exhausted. It recommended riders use Route 8, a 45-minute trip that follows Washington Street from downtown to the Indianapolis International Airport.

Suspect kills himself after standoff

August 22, 2012

Police say a standoff in Lawrence ended Wednesday morning after a man took his own life. The man had been holed up for several hours inside a home on Leone Drive following a reported shooting that sent two people to the hospital. Police characterized the incident as a domestic-related aggravated assault that began in the 3700 block of North Sadlier Drive in Indianapolis. Authorities said a man was shot in the chest and a woman suffered serious injuries to her face in the assault. A witness followed the shooting suspect to Lawrence, where the suspect shot himself after police surrounded the house.

Toyota, Duke to test electric-vehicle technology in Indiana

Toyota Motor Corp. will test and refine electric-vehicle-charging technology in the Indianapolis area under a partnership with Duke Energy Corp. announced Wednesday morning.
