High school hoops coach arrested

December 21, 2009

Pike High School girls basketball coach Sara Strahm is facing a charge of child seduction after being accused of having a
sexual relationship with one of her players. The 28-year-old is on administrative leave following her arrest. Strahm was fired
from a past job at Danville High School because of an alleged affair with a female student. Fox59 will have more at 4 p.m.

Firefighters rescue residents from balconies

December 21, 2009

Wayne Township firefighters rescued several people from their west-side apartment balconies early Monday after responding to a reported kitchen fire. Crews who arrived at Mariner’s Village apartments shortly after midnight found the 22-unit, 3-story building consumed in flames. One resident sustained serious injuries and was taken to Methodist Hospital. Three others suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. The local American Red Cross chapter is providing housing for some of the affected residents; others are staying with friends and family. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

AIT shares profit with employees – again

AIT Laboratories said Monday morning it is awarding another $1 million in bonus money to employees, bringing their total take
in profit sharing this year to an impressive $3 million.

Late comeback keeps Colts perfect

The Indianapolis Colts are 14-0 after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-31 Thursday night. The team put together its
seventh fourth-quarter comeback of the season. The Colts have just two games left in the regular season, at home against the
New York Jets and in Buffalo.
 

Driver identified in Madison Avenue crash

December 18, 2009

Police have released the identity of a woman killed in a crash late Thursday night on the south side of Indianapolis. Rachel
Deutsch, 24, was thrown from her car on Madison Avenue. A witness said Deutsch’s vehicle weaved around before hitting a curb,
and then a building and a light pole. Police do not think she was wearing a seat belt.
 

Study: Indiana one of the least-happy states

December 18, 2009

The Hoosier State is one of the least-happy states in the country, according to a study from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention. Only Michigan, Connecticut and New York fared worse. The CDC study suggests the country’s happiest people
live in the sunniest states. Louisiana, Hawaii, Florida, Tennessee and Arizona make up the top five. Fox 59 will have more
at 4 p.m.
