As a practical matter, no business or industry looks only as the characterization of Muncie or Terre Haute as a metropolitan area and declares it is the basis for locating there. More important to the growth of a community’s economy are such things as work force availability, affordability of housing, quality of schools, access to transportation, and social amenities. Build and maintain a community where people want to live, work, and play…and businesses will take notice.
Muncie and Columbus feel like extensions of the Indianapolis MSA. All the others are distinctly alone.
Really feel like Columbus and muncie are extensions of Indy? Have you ever traveled between the cities? Farm fields for days doesn’t make a metro area.
No, they do not.
I can’t imagine anybody in these towns prefer to be associated with anything “metro” in the first place. Second, I’m making serious assumptions about who these folks put in office, yet whine about losing federal aid.
I said what I said.
