Subscribe NowFountain Square record store Square Cat Vinyl plans to operate a small store at the Bottleworks Garage Food Hall when the downtown project opens in 2020, developer Hendricks Commercial Properties announced Wednesday.
The record shop, which opened at 1054 Virginia Ave. in 2016, is among the first tenants to be announced for the food hall, part of the large-scale Bottleworks District on Mass Ave project under construction downtown at College and Massachusetts avenues.
The 560-square-foot space is expected to feature a diverse collection of thousands of vintage and modern records and will supplement the Fountain Square location, according Hendricks. Record offerings are expected to include local artists and music labels.
The Art-Deco food hall will be among the first components of the 12-acre Bottleworks campus to open, with a projected premiere date of spring 2020. Housed in former Coca-Cola bottling plant garages, the food hall will total about 30,000 square feet and could feature up to 20 local vendors.
Hendricks officials told IBJ this week they are continuing discussions with other tenants for the food hall, as well as other parts of the campus.
The Living Room Theater, Pins Mechanical and High Alpha, an Indianapolis-based “venture studio,” are among the first tenants confirmed for the development, which was announced in 2015.
Square Cat Vinyl is owned by self-proclaimed “vinyl dorks” Kurt Phillips, Patrick Burtch and Mike Angel.
Bottleworks will include multifamily housing, condos, more than 100,000 square feet of retail space, 170,000 square feet of office space, a hotel and other components, totaling upwards of 1.5 million square feet of development. The project will be split into at least four phases.
