Matt Branam, president of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, died Friday morning, the college said in a statement.

The 58-year-old suffered a “medical emergency” at his office and was transported to Union Hospital, where he died, Rose-Hulman said.

Branam, a 1979 graduate of the school, returned in 2009 to serve as president. He previously spent several years at United Parcel Service.

A native of Terre Haute, Branam also attended Indiana State, Taylor and Georgetown universities.
