IU chief visits India for knowledge network

Indiana University President Michael McRobbie is helping lead a delegation of U.S. college officials and researchers to India to discuss development of an information network.

McRobbie and Internet2 chief executive H. David Lambert are leading the delegation to New Delhi this week aimed at establishing a partnership with India's National Knowledge Network.

The goal is to work together to promote research, education, Internet freedom and other interests.

Internet2 is a member-owned digital network founded by several U.S. universities in 1996 as an environment for research and education. Its network operating center is powered by Indiana University.

Internet2 serves more than 250 U.S. universities, 70 government agencies, and 38 regional and state education networks.
