The court has granted a state request to stay a lower court ruling ordering the BMV to resume selling the personalized license plates, WISH-TV reported. The court made the order public Monday.
A Marion County judge ordered the BMV in May to resume the sales after a Greenfield police officer won a lawsuit claiming the agency had unconstitutionally refused to renew his plate reading "0INK." Because of the lawsuit, the BMV halted all vanity plate sales in July 2013.
The ruling siding with the officer is being appealed. The stay order means motorists who want vanity plates must wait at least until the appeal is settled.
