Gander Mountain sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization Friday. The company plans to close 32 of the 150-plus stores it has in 26 states.
The closing list does not include Indianapolis-area stores in Castleton, Avon and Greenwood.
The only other location slated for closure in the state is in Merrillville. The retailer has other Indiana stores in Lafayette, Terre Haute, Fort Wayne and Evansville.
A company statement says the stores will begin closing in coming weeks, but it doesn't give a date for the shutdowns.
The Minnesota-based company is blaming the closings on changing consumer patterns linked to online merchandising.
Gander Mountain got its start in 1960 as a catalog-based retailer of hunting and camping supplies. The retailer has gone through several acquisitions, gone public twice and filed for reorganization in the 1980s and the 1990s.
