The race was moved to Monday. It will run at 2 p.m., after the rescheduled Xfinity Series race, which was rained out on Saturday.
A full schedule of events planned for Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend were washed out by the rain, which has fallen steadily for three days. NASCAR has not been able to get any cars on track.
NASCAR's playoffs begin next weekend in Las Vegas and the sanctioning body is eager to get the regular-season finale concluded at Indianapolis. The race sets the field for the 16-driver playoffs.
Kyle Busch is scheduled to start on the pole alongside Kevin Harvick when the race does begin. The race order was determined by season standings because qualifications could not take place Saturday because of the rain.
The previous 24 editions of the Brickyard 400 have taken place in July, but organizers moved it to September this year partly to take advantage of what they though would be better weather.
