As much as I would like to move, I’m not giving up a 2.75% mortgage for a 3.43% higher rate. That’s why there’s not a lot of inventory on the market.
Seems like mortgage rates “ticking down” a fraction is not really news, is it? Mortgage rates have fluctuated within a few points for the past several years … and still remain substantially higher than they were before the pandemic. A better story would be talking to people like Randy S. who are “stuck” in place because they’re locked into a low rate and examining how that affects the housing market. Or a story on how zoning regulations stymie efforts to build affordable housing, or a comprehensive followup of the Indy Rezone Initiative 10 years after its implementation. Just sayin’.
