Indiana was the 8th largest state exporter of goods in 2024.
In 2024, Indiana goods exports were $59.9 billion, an increase of 68 percent ($24 billion) from its export level in 2014.
Goods exports accounted for 12.0 percent of Indiana GDP in 2024.
Indiana Depends on World Markets
The state’s largest market was Canada. Indiana exported $13.9 billion in goods to Canada in 2024, representing 23 percent of the state’s total goods exports.
Canada was followed by Mexico ($7.5 billion), Italy ($6.5 billion), China ($5.1 billion), and Germany ($4.2 billion)
Agriculture in Indiana depends on Exports
Indiana is the country’s 7th largest agricultural exporting state, shipping $6.4 billion in domestic agricultural exports abroad in 2023 (latest data available according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture).”
