Kinda weird that this writer uses the term “tie-up” three times in this article.
And now the updated article doesn’t appear to say “tie-up” at all. I’m wondering how the Kroger Cos can have a 9.9% market share and Albertson’s 5.7% (a combined 15.6%) compared to Walmart’s 21%, but later in the article it says the two companies nearly match Walmart’s grocery sales: $209.8 Billion vs. $218.9 Billion? Something doesn’t really add up there. Either Walmart has 35% more market share than Kroger & Albertson’s combined, or it has 4% higher sales. I don’t get the difference.
